Overview

You can install Sugar FastStack as a typical installation or a custom installation. Typical installation is recommended, but you can choose custom installation if you:
  • Do not want to use the Admin User as the Sugar database administrator
  • Want to specify the locale settings during installation, before you log into the Sugar application
Sugar FastStack is available for MySQL server 5.0.37, which includes PHP 5.2.5 and Apache 2.0.59.

Installation prerequisites

The minimum memory requirement is 1GB. However, the recommended memory requirement is 2GB.
FastStack installs and runs the Apache server as the nobody user. Before you begin the installation process, ensure that the nobodyuser has full Read and Execute permissions to the path of the installation location.

Performing a typical installation of Sugar FastStack

Follow the process listed below to perform a standard installation of Sugar FastStack.

1. Go to the Sugar website and download theSugar FastStack executable file, sugarcrm-CE-6.5.0-osx-installer.app.tgz.
2. Navigate to the location where you saved the file and double-click the file to begin the installation process.
This displays the Setup SugarCRM page.
3. Click Next on the Setup SugarCRM page.
This displays the Installation directory page.
The default location displays in the Installation directory field.
4. (Optionally) Click the Folder icon and navigate to the location where you want to install the program, if you want to change the default installation directory.
5. Click Next.
This displays the Select Components page.
The phpMyAdmin component is selected by default.
6. Click Next.
This displays the Install Type page.
7. Select Typical Install and click Next.
This displays the System Name page with the defaultIP address.
8. Replace the IP address with a name for the Sugar system.
This is the name that will display on the title bar in the browser.
9. Click Next.
This displays the SugarCRM Admin Password page.
10. Enter the password that the Sugar administrator will use to log into Sugar and click Next.
This displays the Demo data page.
11. Select Yes to populate the database with Demo data; select Yes (multibyte) to populate Demo data with multibyte characters, select No if you do not want Demo data.
12. Click Next.
This displays the Install as a service page.
13. Select Yes to automatically start Sugar FastStack when you start your machine, and click Next.
If you select No, the Web Server Domain page is displayed. Go to step 16.
Note: If you choose to install Sugar FastStack as a service, and you did not log in as the administrator, you will be prompted to enter the administrator password. Ensure that you enter the System’s administrator password and not the Sugar administrator password.
The Web Server Port page displays if the Installer cannot bind to the default port number.
14. Enter another port number and click Next, if the Web Server Port page displays.
The Web Server Port page displays a default port number for SSL access, if the Installer cannot bind to the default SSL port number.
15. Enter another port number and click Next if the default SSLport number field displays.
The Web Server Domain page displays the domain’s default IP address.
16. Replace the default IPaddress with the host name orIP address of the machine on which FastStack is being installed to enable other users to access this installation from a different computer.
17. Click Next.
The DB Port page displays if the Installer cannot bind to the default port number for the bundled MySQL database.
18. Enter another port number and click Next.
This displays the MySQL Credentials page.
19. Enter a password for the MySQL database root user, re-enter it to confirm, and click Next.
This displays the phpMyAdmin Password page.
20. Enter a password for the phpMyAdmin administrator, reenter it to confirm, and click Next.
This displays the Ready to Install page.
21. Click Next.
This starts the installation process.
The Completing the SugarCRM Setup Wizard page displays after the installation is complete with the option to launch SugarCRM pre-selected.
22. Click Finish.
This displays the Sugar login page.
You can now log into Sugar as an administrator with the password that you specified earlier during installation.
After a successful login, you can configure users and perform other administrative tasks. See the Sugar Community EditionApplication Guide for more information.

Performing a custom installation of Sugar FastStack

Follow the process listed below to perform a custom installation of Sugar FastStack.

1. Go to the Sugar website and download the Sugar FastStack executable file:
sugarcrm-CE-6.5.0-osx-installer.app.tgz.
2. Navigate to the location where you saved the file and double-click the file to begin the installation process.
This displays the Setup SugarCRM page.
3. Click Next.
This displays the Installation directory page.
The default location displays in the Installation directory field. Click the Folder icon and navigate to the location where you want to install the program if you want to change the default installation directory.
4. Click Next.
This displays the Select Components page.
The phpMyAdmin component is selected by default.
5. Click Next.
This displays the Install Type page.
6. Select Custom Install and click Next.
This displays the System Name page.
7. Replace the IP address with a name for the system.
This name will display on the title bar in the browser.
8. Click Next.
This displays the BaseURL page with the defaultURL for the Sugar application.
9. Accept the default Sugar application URL or change it as needed.
The Base URL that you specify should include the web server, or IP address, or machine name. If the instance is installed on your local computer, you can set theURL to localhost.
10. Click Next.
This displays the SugarCRM Admin Password page.
11. Enter the password that the Sugar administrator will use to log into Sugar, re-enter to confirm it, and click Next.
This displays the Demo data page.
12. Select Yes to populate the database with Demo data or select No. To install Demo data with multi-byte characters, select Yes (multibyte); click Next.
This displays the Statistics and Updates page.
13. Select Yes to send your installation statistics to SugarCRM, or else click No. Select Yes to enable the system to automatically check for patches or else select No; click Next.
This displays the Application ID page.
14. Select Yes and populate the field below to provide an application ID. Or else, click No; click Next.
This displays the Locale Settings page.
15. Specify the default currency, date format, and time format; click Next.
This displays the Install as a service page.
16. Select Yes to automatically start the Sugar FastStack when you start your machine, or else select No and click Next.
Note: If you choose to install Sugar FastStack as a service, and you did not log in as the administrator, you will be prompted to enter the administrator password. Ensure that you enter the System’s administrator password and not the Sugar administrator password.
If the Installer cannot bind to the default port number for the Apache Web Server, the Web Server Port page is displayed.
17. Enter another port number and click Next.
A default port number forSSL access is displayed if the Installer cannot bind to the default port number.
18. Enter another port number and click Next.
This displays the Web Server Domain page with the domain’s default IPaddress.
19. (Optionally) Replace the default IP address with the host name or IP address of the machine on which FastStack is being installed to enable other users to access this installation from a different computer.
20. Click Next.
The DB Port page is displayed if the Installer cannot bind to the default port number.
21. Enter a new port number and click Next.
This displays the MySQL Credentials page.
22. Enter a password for the database root user, reenter it to confirm, and click Next.
This displays the phpMyAdmin Password page.
23. Enter a password for the administrator of phpMyAdmin, reenter it to confirm, and click Next.
This displays the Ready to Install page.
24. Click Next.
This starts the installation process.

25. Click Finish.
This displays the Sugar login page.
You can now log into Sugar as an administrator with the password that you specified earlier during installation.
