Windows installation

Overview

You can install Sugar FastStack as a typical installation or a custom installation. Typical installation is recommended; but you can choose custom installation if you:
  • Do not want to use the Admin User as the Sugar database administrator
  • Want to specify the locale settings during installation

If you select an existing SQL Server and the sqlcmd command is not found in the system, you need to install the following:
  • sqlcmd 2005
  • sqlncli 2005

Installation prerequisites

The minimum memory requirement is 1GB. However, the recommended memory requirement is 2GB.

Performing a standard installation of Sugar FastStack for MySQL

1. Go to the Sugar website and download the Sugar FastStack executable file for MySQL, sugarcrm-CE-6.5.0-windows-installer.exe
2. Navigate to the location where you saved the file and click Run to begin the installation process
This displays the Setup SugarCRM page
3. Click Next
This displays the License Acceptance page.
4. Review the license, select I Accept, and click Next
This displays the Installation directory page.
The default location displays in the Installation directory field. If you want to change the default installation directory, click the Folder icon and navigate to the location where you want to install the program.
5. Click Next.
This displays the Select Components page.
By default, the phpMyAdmin component, which enables you to manage the database, is selected.
6. Click Next.
This displays the Install Type page.
7. Typical install is selected, by default; click Next.
The System Name page displays the default IP address.
8. Replace the IP address with a name for the Sugar system.
This is the name that will display on the title bar in the browser
9. Click Next.
This displays the SugarCRM Admin Password page.
10. Enter the password that the Sugar administrator will use to log into Sugar and click Next.
The Demo data screen displays next.
11. Select Yes to populate the database with Demo data, or else click No. To install it with multibyte characters, select Yes (multibyte).
12. Click Next.
This displays the Install as a service page.
13. Select Yes to automatically start the Sugar FastStack when you start your machine, or else select No;
14. Click Next.
This displays the Web Server Domain page.
15. Click Next.
This displays the MySQL Credentials page.
16. Click Next.
17. Enter a password for the database root user, re-enter it to confirm, and click Next.
This displays the phpMyAdmin Password page.
18. Enter a password for the phpMyAdmin administrator, reenter it to confirm, and click Next.
This displays the Ready to Install page.
19. Click Next.
The installation process begins.
After the installation is complete, the Completing the SugarCRM Setup Wizard screen displays next. The option to launch SugarCRM is already selected.
20. Click Finish to launch Sugar.
This displays the Sugar login page.
You can now log into Sugar as an administrator with the password that you specified earlier during installation.

Performing a Custom Installation of Sugar FastStack for MySQL

Follow the process listed below to perform a custom installation:

2. Navigate to the location where you saved the file and click Run to begin the installation process.
This displays the Setup SugarCRM page.
3. Click Next.
This displays the Installation directory page.
The default location displays in the Installation directory field.
4. (Optionally) Click the Folder icon and navigate to the location where you want to install the program, if you want to change the default installation directory.
5. Click Next.
This displays the Select Components page.
By default, the phpMyAdmin component, which enables you to manage the database, is selected.
6. Click Next.
This displays the Install Type page.
7. Select Custom Install and click Next.
The System Name page displays the system’s IPaddress.
8. Replace the IP address with a name for the system.
This name will display on the title bar in the browser.
9. Click Next.
The Base URL page displays the default URLfor the Sugar application.
10. Accept the default or change it as needed.
The Base URL that you specify should include the web server, or IP address, or machine name. If the instance is installed on your local computer, you can set the URL to localhost.
11. Click Next.
The SugarCRM Admin Password screen displays next.
12. Enter the password that the Sugar administrator will use to log into Sugar, re-enter to confirm it, and click Next.
This displays the Demo data page.
13. Select Yes to populate the database with Demo data or select No.
Select Yes (multibyte) to install Demo data with multi-byte characters.
14. Click Next.
This displays the Statistics and Updates page.
15. Select Yes to send your installation statistics to SugarCRM, or else click No. Select Yes to enable the system to automatically check for patches or else select No.
16. Click Next.
This displays the Application ID page.
17. Select Yes and enter in the field below to provide an application ID. Or else, click No.
18. Click Next.
This displays the Locale Settings page.
19. Specify the default currency, date format, and time format.
This displays the Install as a service page.
20. Select Yes to automatically start the Sugar FastStack when you start your machine, or else select No.
21. Click Next.
This displays the Web Server Port page.
22. Enter the port number and click Next.
23. Enter the SSL port number.
24. Click Next.
This displays the DB Port page.
25. Enter the port number for My SQL Server and click Next.
Th Web Server Domain page displays the domain’s default IPaddress.
26. Replace the default IPaddress with the host name orIP address of the machine on which FastStack is being installed to enable other users to access this installation from a different computer.
27. Click Next.
This displays the MySQL Credentials page.
27. Enter a password for the database root user, reenter it to confirm, and click Next.
The system displays a screen to specify the same administrator or a new administrator.
The system will use this information to generate a Sugar database administrator to communicate with the Sugar database.
By default, Sugar selects the Admin User as the database administrator. If you are using MySQL orSQL Server, you can select a different user as the Sugar database user from the drop-down list.
28. Select Provide existing user to select an existing user. Select Define user to be createdto create a new database user. Enter the database user name and password in the fields that display below. Reenter the password to confirm it.
29. Click Next.
This displays the phpMyAdmin Password page.
30. Enter a password for the administrator of phpMyAdmin, reenter it to confirm, and click Next.
This displays the Ready to Install page.
31. Click Next.
This initiates the installation process.
After the installation is complete, the Completing the SugarCRM Setup Wizard screen displays. The option to launch SugarCRM is already selected.
32. Click Finish to launch Sugar.
This displays the Sugar login page.
You can now log into Sugar as an administrator with the password that you specified earlier during the installation.
